Meet our PastorsPastor Michael Duncan
Pastor Mike and his wife, Cathy, have been married for 32 years. In college Pastor Mike was planning to become a medical doctor. After his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin in Madison God led him to study for the ministry. He attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota for his pre-seminary training and then Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. In September 2008 he celebrated 25 years in the ministry. His first nine years were at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Burton, Michigan. Since 1992 he has served as the Administrative Pastor at St. Paul’s here in Fort Atkinson. Pastor Mike has also had the privilege of serving the church at large. During his ministry he has served as a member of the Board of Regents for Lakeside Lutheran High School, as a Circuit Pastor, and as a consultant for WELS churches in Parish Assistance. He has also served in world missions - as the Coordinator for Nepal from 2008-2011, as the Coordinator for Pakistan, and as the chairman of the South Asia Administrative Committee which oversees our Synod’s mission work in India, Nepal and Pakistan. While a student, the Lord blessed him with his wife, Kathryn nee Baur. Their union was blessed with seven children, six sons and one daughter. Five of their children are married, blessing them with seven grandchildren. Graduating from the Seminary in 1978, Pastor Scharrer’s ministry began in Lincoln, Nebraska. His ministry continued at St. Paul’s in Fort Atkinson, moving here in January of 1984. Pastor Scharrer’s passion is sharing the Good News that we have a Savior who loves us, died for us and rose again, and saved us from sin. To Him, this is the greatest joy in all the world. His earnest hope and prayer is that you know Jesus and have the eternal joy only Jesus can give. Pastor Paul Scharrer |
Pastor Mike Duncan and his wife, Cathy, are blessed with five children – Sarah, Rebecca, David, Mary and Elizabeth – and seven grandchildren.
Pastor Paul Scharrer grew up on a farm in Hemlock, Michigan, near Saginaw. After attending Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw and the former Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin, he entered Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wisconsin.
